Frank Zappa the noted musical genius and political activist once said that "writing about music is like dancing to architecture." So what dance steps should we do here? Since the last post I made on this series I found out that probable reason for the feverish building activity is that the land was sitting undeveloped for a certain period of time and if undeveloped for any longer there would be serious tax consequences based on "land speculation" laws.
This developer's office was designed and landscaped impeccably. Even the barricades (blocking driveway) were nicely done and coordinated with company's color scheme. Talk about brand awareness. Big up on that one in a place that is usually way to casual in concept and execution. I guess the world around me is growing up...
You can see part of the Shinkong Mitsukoshi Department Store (Taichung, Taiwan) colorful exterior on the right. The downtown formerly centered around the train station 2 miles east of here is now filling in westwardly from WenHsin Rd. up to the ChungShan Freeway.
I love these cranes. I never knew I was a crane geek. I can envision them as more minimalist transformer bots swinging into action doing fierce battle with wayward Taoist immortals or stray WuTang Clansmen...
