Good comments rich. re: Mud slinging-it is the lazy man's way of responding to competition. A lot harder to suck it up go back to the drawing board and come out with something better than competitor.

I have Snap installed on a few of my sites, but frankly have not found it to be as "necessary" for me as I had first thought. I appreciate the fact that it gives sneak previews of the sites linked, but I sometimes get tired of scanning pages and having to "work around" the boxes that keep popping up. I've found I've turned it off more often than not when the option exists on a page.

As for Apture, however, I absolutely appreciate the fact that I (me, myself, moi) get to choose the type of dynamic linked content. If I want a screen preview such as Snap provides, great. But I can go much further. I can link to the Wiki reference, a video that supports the content, audio, reference materials, photos, and more.

No, I don't have a "dog in this race" as Mark points out regarding Jason's post. I am just a content creator that appreciates this new service.

I will continue to use Snap when appropriate; I will continue to use Apture, as well. I believe these apps can coexist harmoniously in my web space.

However, if mud is slung again -- watch me run away from the person doing the flinging. I'll drop use of that service in a heartbeat. It is terrible public relations and reflects very poorly on the company in question.

Hey Beau,
Thanks for chiming in. I suspected that Jason had a "dog in the race" so to speak. Whatever, very few original ideas but credit always due to better adaptations. Loving Apture and have already introduced to numerous web publishing friends.

The hand selected content and ease of linking are what make Apture a "keeper" in my book. Wish you guys the best of luck!

Yo, Jason, the Snap stuff you helped invent (maybe you should have mentioned you were involved at Snap http://www.linkedin.com/in/jasonfields - personal credibility?) is automatically generated. The Apture windows (I am the Executive Chairman of Apture) is selected by the author of the page, Mark in this case.

Saying Snap is like Apture, is a lot like saying that auto generated SPAM is like an email from a person - NOT. There is simply no way that Snap's auto preview pop-ups are anything like the hand selected content provided by Authors like Mark using Apture. Come by our web site and have a look - then you'll get it.

Next time, I'd suggest that you take the time to figure out the differences before making yourself look foolish, especially when not bothering to mention you have a personal vested interest.

Beau

Mark,
If you like it you should try the real deal from Snap (http://www.snap.com/snapshots.php#menu) rather than this forgery.
